Central Region, Malawi - CDH, the prominent investment bank in Malawi, has made a substantial contribution of 2 Million to support the upcoming Malawi Orthopaedic Association (MOA) Scientific Conference scheduled to take place from the 21st to the 23rd of September at Chikho Hotel in Mponera, Dowa.

The conference, themed "Orthopaedics and Disaster Management: Lessons from Cyclone Freddy," aims to provide orthopaedic surgeons and clinicians with essential knowledge and skills in emergency preparedness and disaster management.

During the presentation ceremony held on Thursday, September 14, 2023, at CDH House in Blantyre, Jamal Kamoto, the Chief Business Development Officer of CDH Investment Bank, expressed that the bank's donation is a reflection of its commitment to supporting initiatives aligned with its education, health, and advocacy policies.

He emphasized the bank's belief that this contribution would significantly contribute to MOA's advocacy and initiatives related to the lessons learned from Cyclone Freddy.

Maureen Sabawo, the President of MOA, conveyed her gratitude for CDH Investment Bank's timely donation, highlighting the profound impact it would have on training healthcare professionals.

She stated, "We are immensely thankful to CDH Investment Bank for their generous donation, which will play a crucial role in furthering our efforts to train orthopaedic surgeons and clinicians in disaster management. Cyclone Freddy revealed critical gaps in trauma and orthopaedic care in our country, and through this scientific conference, we will share experiences and insights from both district and central hospitals."

As of now, Malawi has only 16 Orthopaedic Surgeons and 108 orthopaedic clinicians serving a population of approximately 18 million.
